OUR PARTNERS – CALGARY CATHOLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) is the Catholic school district serving 120 schools with students from K – 12 in the areas of Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and Rocky View County in Alberta.

In August 2025, 19 K-8 teachers joined the NEC for a Nature-based Education retreat at Camp Jubilee in Cochrane, AB. Over three days, participants explored hands-on methods for teaching biodiversity, climate change, and social-emotional learning through the lens of the natural world. Jolene Mundt, the Elementary Science Consultant, alongside 10 other CCSD teachers, attended the retreat.

On April 28, 2026, 32 teachers from the Calgary Catholic School Division participated in a full day of professional development at Guardian Angel School, facilitated by the Canadian Wildlife Federation and Project Learning Tree Canada. The session focused on experiential, curriculum-connected activities exploring wildlife, forests, and biodiversity, equipping teachers with practical strategies to support outdoor and inquiry-based learning while fostering environmental stewardship. Elementary Science Consultant Jolene Mundt also participated, helping connect teachers with district resources, including learning kits, wagons, and outdoor education supplies.
